The hotel originated as a 17th Century palace known as “Palazzo Rizzo-Patarol”. The owner at the beginning of the 18th Century was the renowned collector and botanist Lorenzo Patarol, who wrote an herbarium now preserved at the Natural History Museum of Venice, a few steps from NH Collection Venezia Grand Hotel Dei Dogi, with over a thousand specimens of dried plants, accompanied by butterflies and dragonflies. The garden was once considered to be “one of the Venetian Singularities to be referred to by foreigners”. In fact, it was so renowned for its beauty, the Austrian Emperor Francis I visited in 1815.

posizione: centrale a 5 min a piedi dal ghetto e 15 dalla stazione, su un canale secondario e tranquillo, poco distanti da una zona con diversi bacari. Check in: rapido, professionale (e cordiale che non guasta, come fossimo clienti abituali dell'hotel ), anche comodo (seduti su comode sedie! prima volta...). Upgrade con stanza sul canale, silenziosissima e arredata stile veneziano, giusta nelle dimensioni, con piccola zona giorno. Bagno non tanto grande ma da poco ristrutturato con gusto. Ambienti comuni: sontuosi, in stile veneziano per respirare l'esperienza unica della citta'. Unico piccolo difetto minibar un poco rumoroso (basta spegnerlo se si vuole di notte)Sale superiori assolutamente da vedere. Grande giardino esterno (a Venezia!) ben curato e con affaccio sulla laguna. Colazione: da 5 stelle con menu' alla carta incluso e con rapporto qualità/prezzo migliore che altrove. Hotel con numero contenuto di stanze, a favore della tranquillia' e del servizio. Rapporto qualita'/prezzo in generale: eccellente ma considerato però che abbiamo soggiornato a gennaio in bassa stagione In conclusione: di NH ne abbiamo visti tanti in oltre 20 anni di frequentazione in Italia e mezza Europa, ma direi che questo hotel e' certamente tra i migliori. Esperienza da provare senza dubbio.

Wonderful Staff

This hotel has so much charm! Such a warm welcome when we checked in. The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast staff was great. The gentleman in the restaurant was awesome! Explained the menu and was very attentive. The gardens out back are beautiful. We loved strolling around and taking in the beauty. Very close to the water bus station so it’s easy to get to get around and explore. The best part of this hotel is it’s amazing staff!!!

Splendido hotel e location magnifica. La colazione è stata davvero straordinaria

Location ottima, molto bello il giardino, ben curato. Un bel polmone verde che non ti aspetti di trovare dentro un hotel. Camere ben spaziose e molto pulite. Punto forte la colazione : personale di sala gentilissimo, disponibile e cordiale; prodotti di qualità, ampia scelta e davvero tanta ma tanta cura nel dettaglio. Prodotti rimpiazzati continuamente e non per essere ripetitivo ma tutto rigorosamente di marca ed ottima qualità. Ci ritornerei immediatamente.
